The Six Nations of the Grand River Economic Development Trust (EDT) is an application based, community investment trust available to groups who address community priorities within Six Nations. The EDT is the mechanism, in which surplus profits generated by the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC), are invested into the Six Nations community for the collective benefit of its members. This model of community investment was a direct result of the 2011 community engagement study, “We Gather Our Voices.”
EDT Trustees are responsible for reviewing, scoring and prioritizing applications for community investment. Trustees consist of Rachel Martin (Chair), Cathy General, Jill Hill, and Julie Hill.
In 2018, the EDT will invest $1.7 million into the Six Nations Community. Applications will be released on Monday, August 28, 2017 with a deadline of October 13, 2017 by 4 pm. In an effort to reduce the number of late or incomplete applications, the EDT has introduced a new process for 2018, which will allow applicants to submit their completed applications via email between the dates of August 28, 2017 to October 4, 2017 at 4pm for initial screening by an EDT representative. An email will then be sent to each applicant by October 6 with a detailed list of what is missing or incomplete. Applicants will then have until the hard deadline of October 13 at 4PM to gather their missing documents for submission.
This year, the EDT has requested applicants to submit one project application per organization/department, as a means to clearly determine the organizations funding priority.
