June 29, 2022 – Six Nations Bingo and the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC) wish to extend our sincere apologies for the messaging related to a bingo event planned for Friday, July 1st.

Given Canada’s Colonial legacy, this event should have been re-evaluated and repositioned as an opportunity to educate our patrons on the tragic past Indigenous people have endured in this country.

SNGRDC stands with Six Nations of the Grand River regarding July 1st becoming not a day of celebration, but rather a day of somber reflection and renewed commitments to furthering the process of reconciliation. Six Nations Bingo and SNGRDC will be utilizing July 1st as a day to bring awareness to our Indigenous and non-Indigenous customers. With 80% of our patrons visiting from outside of the community, this presents an opportunity to direct our customers to the Woodland Cultural Centre, where they can find appropriate resources to further their knowledge of Canada’s Colonial legacy.

We apologize to anyone who experienced a traumatic response due to the advertised event – we continue to strive to do better for our people.

Community remembers are reminded that resources available to you if you are in need of support:
