ANDREW JOSEPH

Andrew Joseph 2023 478e

Appointed to the Board of Directors and Board of Trustees following our restructuring in 2023, Andrew Wm. Joseph is a proud member of Six Nations belonging to the Onödowa’ga (Seneca) Nation.

Currently residing in Simcoe, Andrew has lived both on and off of Our Territory throughout his life, he is keenly aware of the unique challenges and difficulties that can come with both, as well as the issues that impact Indigenous people more broadly. His early years were profoundly shaped by seeing events like Oka and Ipperwash unfold on TV, and it served to inspire his educational pathway into his chosen field of Aboriginal Law, Justice & Advocacy.  Andrew has an extensive history of involvement in efforts and events throughout the local Six Nations, and Haldimand-Norfolk communities, including volunteerism on a variety of projects, boards and committees. Andrew has previously held positions as Director of Culture, President of Oshki-Anishnawbeg Student’s Associations, Member of Confederation College Board of Governors, Policy Analyst for Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Council, Chairman of SONICS/CKRZ and has been grateful to have served previously with SNGRDC as a Trustee of the Economic Development Trust.

He continues to be an advocate for his community and for Indigenous rights generally. Andrew is very committed to the betterment of the community and improvement of the quality of life for Six Nations Members; and continues to contribute towards these goals wherever his efforts can be most effective. Otherwise, he can often be found at lacrosse games cheering on our local teams in his free time.
