ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Mandate: To provide oversight of SNGRDC’s Board of Directors and Economic Development Trust. This includes ensuring each entity is acting in a socially responsible manner which preserves Six Nations’ cultural integrity and operates in line with the values and long-term plan of the community.
- Protect the interests of the Six Nations community while pursuing economic development opportunities in a socially responsible manner
- Oversee the Board of Directors and the Economic Development Trust
- Vet, select and appoint the directors of the Corporation and the trustees of the Economic Development Trust
- Update and revise where required: (i) a Statement of Economic Development Principles; (ii) a Statement of Community Needs and Priorities (iii) a Statement of Economic Development Trust Distribution Guidelines, in each case based on the Six Nations Community Plan, as a framework for the Economic Development Trust and the Board of Directors
- Meet annually with the SNGRDC’s Board of Directors and Economic Development Trust to review their annual reports which will include audited financial statements
- Make regular reports to the SNGRDC Shareholder
- Determine annual revenue distribution (how much will be transferred to the Economic Development Trust for community distribution and how much will be used by the Board of Directors to be reinvested into future projects)
- Regular quarterly meetings or more frequently if required
- Receive and review annual written report from the Board of Directors and Economic Development Trust
- On a quarterly basis prepare a brief written report on the results of the operations of the Economic Development Group and Economic Development Trust on key developments, issues and other relevant matters for Six Nations Elected Council
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Mandate: Will oversee the business activities of the SNGRDC Administrative team including the supervision of the President/CEO according to the Guiding Principles and approved policies.
- Ensure that all businesses operate within the guidelines set out in the Statement of Economic Development Principles and the Statement of Community Needs and Priorities established by the Advisory Committee
- Supervise the management of SNGRDC investments and assets
- Report and be accountable to the Advisory Committee on the Development Corporation’s investments, annual business plans and the results of all operations
- Approve the annual business plan and budgets for the Development Corporation and the businesses managed by it
- Regular monthly meetings or more frequently if needed
- Quarterly reports submitted to the Advisory Committee or more frequently if needed
- Annual written report to the Advisory Committee
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Mandate: To determine how funds received from the businesses operated and managed by the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC) will be invested in the Six Nations community collectively.
- Receive & evaluate all completed Economic Development Trust proposals
- Determine how EDT funds will be reinvested into the community in accordance with the Statement of Community Needs and Priorities and the Statement of Economic Development Trust Distribution Guidelines established by the Advisory Committee
- Regular quarterly meetings or more frequently if needed
- Quarterly reports submitted to the Advisory Committee or more frequently if needed
- Annual written report to the Advisory Committee
