2019-2025 Canada’s Best Managed Companies

Since 2019, Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC) has been named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies by Deloitte Canada. 2025 is the sixth year SNGRDC has been awarded this title.
This national award is presented annually by Deloitte Canada and is considered one of Canada’s leading business awards programs, recognizing excellence in private Canadian-owned companies. Each year, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies undergo a rigorous application process, but only the best are awarded with this prestigious designation.
The Best Managed Applicants are evaluated based on four key areas including: Strategy, Capabilities and Innovation, Culture and Commitment, and Governance and Financials.
2025 Innovative Canadian Clean Power Project of the Year – Hagersville Battery Energy Storage Park

This inaugural awards program celebrates projects and organizations that exemplify innovation, leadership, and a strong commitment to advancing Canada’s renewable energy and energy storage industries.
Located in Haldimand County, Ontario, the Hagersville Battery Energy Storage Park is set to become Canada’s largest battery storage facility upon completion, providing 300 MW / 1.2 GWh of flexible capacity to the provincial grid. The project sets a new benchmark for large-scale energy storage and demonstrates the power of equitable Indigenous partnership and adaptive land reuse.
2025 Energy Storage Milestone Award – Oneida Energy Storage

Oneida Energy Storage received the Energy Storage Milestone Award at the 2025 Energy Storage Canada Conference. The Oneida project, a 250 MW/1,000 MWh battery facility now operating in Ontario, is currently the largest of its kind in Canada. At the time of submission, the facility was already delivering its full 1,000 MWh capacity during peak demand on some of the hottest days, making it a major milestone for the industry in demonstrating the transformative contributions of large-scale storage projects for Canadian electricity grids.
2025 Community Project of the Year – Oneida Energy Storage

The Community Project of the Year Award was awarded to Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation at the 2025 First Nations Economic Advancement Conference. The Oneida Energy Storage project stands as a powerful example of Indigenous-led innovation, collaboration, and impact and has set a new standard for community-driven development. OFNEDA is proud to recognize the vision and dedication behind this project and the contributions of A6N, whose Indigenous workforce helped bring it to life.
2025 Worker Safety Award – Oneida Energy Storage

Honoured for its exceptional worksite safety performance in delivering Canada’s largest operational energy storage facility. Five project partners — Northland Power, Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation, Aecon, NRStor and Mississaugas of the Credit Business Corporation — collaborated to build a safety culture that put workers first, supported by a joint monitoring framework, extensive workforce training and over 550 safety inspections. At the height of construction, hundreds of people were working on the project, logging nearly 300,000 hours without a single lost-time injury.
2018 Clean50 – Matt Jamieson

On September 20, 2017, the Delta Management Group announced Matt Jamieson, President & CEO of Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation, as a 2018 Canada Clean50 honouree under the category of renewable energy. The award recognizes 50 individuals or small teams, in 16 different categories, who have done the most to advance the cause of sustainability and clean capitalism in Canada over the past 2 years.
The Delta Management Group was founded in 2011, and remains the steward of the Canada Clean50 Awards, created to annually identify, recognize and connect 50 sustainability leaders from every sector of Canadian endeavor.
2018 Ontario Energy Association Company Award

A6N is a Joint Venture (now General Partnership as of 2024) between Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (51% ownership) and Aecon Group Inc. (49% ownership). A6N was awarded the Ontario Energy Association (OEA) Company Award, which recognizes and rewards companies acknowledged as outstanding leaders by their peers within the Ontario energy industry
The Ontario Energy Association aspires to be the most credible and trusted voice of the energy sector. They earn their reputation by being an integral and influential part of energy policy development and decision-making in Ontario. They represent Ontario’s energy leaders that span the full diversity of the energy industry.

2017 Aboriginal Development Corporation of the Year

The Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) and Sodexo Canada presented the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation with the Aboriginal Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) of the Year Award for 2017.
SNGRDC supports the growth of Six Nations through annual distributions of surplus profits to the Economic Development Trust (EDT) who invests the funds into the community. SNGRDC has contributed over $7 million from surplus profits generated in 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 to the EDT for community investment in the 2016, 2017, 2018 calendar years. SNGRDC has also facilitated $1.48 million, over 20 years, in post-secondary contributions from renewable energy partners.
2016 Aboriginal Project of the Year Award

Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation was recognized by Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (OSEA) for its meaningful commitment to renewable energy in the province. SNGRDC proudly accepted the Aboriginal Project of the Year Award for the successful 500 KW Rooftop Solar Project at the Oneida Business Park.
The Ontario Sustainable Energy Association has been at the forefront of the energy sector, working with various organizations to champion sustainable energy that will power, heat, cool and move Ontario’s prosperity by creating jobs, resilient communities and healthy environments.
