SCHOLARSHIPS & BURSARIES

Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC) along with the Consultation and Accommodation Process Team (CAP Team) has helped to facilitate $2.48 million in post-secondary contributions, over 20 years, for Indigenous learners pursuing a career in the renewable energy industry.

All scholarships and bursaries facilitated by SNGRDC are administered through Grand River Post-Secondary Education Office (GRPSEO) www.grpseo.org or Indspire’s Bursaries and Scholarship Program www.indspire.ca.

CAPITAL POWER SCHOLARSHIP

The Capital Power Scholarship for Haudenosaunee students of Grand River Territory lineage was established to support students to pursue their post-secondary educational aspirations in the field of environmental studies, engineering or business (accounting, finance, human resources).

4 annual scholarships of $2500.00 for Six Nations learners

GUNN’S HILL WIND BURSARY FOR INDIGENOUS STUDENTS

The bursaries will be granted to students entering or currently attending post-secondary education or job training in a field related to the renewable energy industry. This will be broadly interpreted to include any aspect of the process including, but not limited to: policy development, project development, technology design, environmental assessment, environmental monitoring, construction, electrical, engineering, operation, and maintenance, etc.

$4000 available annually for Six Nations Learners. The bursary may be awarded to one student ($4000) or up to four students ($1000 each).

GRAND RENEWABLE WIND LP SCHOLARSHIP

The Grand Renewable Wind LP Scholarship is split amongst three annual scholarship programs offered by GRPSEO, which include: GRPSEO’s Scholarship, Haudenosaunee Recognition Award and the Norman Jacobs Environmental Award.

NEXTERA SUMMERHAVEN WIND SCHOLARSHIP

NextEra Summerhaven Wind Scholarship is an annual distribution to the Indspire’s Building Brighter Futures: Bursaries and Scholarship Awards. The scholarship with be awarded to successful applicants pursing post-secondary education in engineering, science, commerce business or renewable energy.

$15,000 annually for Indigenous students residing in Canada

NIAGARA REGION WIND FARM (BORALEX) SCHOLARSHIP

The Niagara Region Wind Farm Scholarship will be available to Six Nations Learners beginning in 2018. Criteria and deadlines are yet to be determined and will be updated on the SNGRDC website when available.

SNGRDC SCHOLARSHIP

The SNGRDC Scholarship will provide $1 million over 20 years to Six Nations learners through the Grand River Post Secondary Education Office (GRPSEO). This funding will be distributed annually in the amount of $50,000 through the general GRPSEO funding application.
