Funds generated by Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation to help support four community-based initiatives.
Ohsweken, ON, March 12, 2026 – The Six Nations of the Grand River Economic Development Trust (EDT) has approved $42,000 in community investment to support the work of four local volunteer organizations and initiatives on Six Nations throughout 2026. The following applicants were approved for funding at a meeting of the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC)’s Economic Development Trust Committee on March 4, 2026:
- Two Row on the Grand will receive $15,000 for their 2026 Annual Paddle
- Miss Indigenous Canada will receive $12,000 for their Leadership Development and Ambassador Program
- The Haudenosaunee Lacrosse Academy will receive $7,500 for their Summer and School Holiday Skills Camps
- Oliver M. Smith Elementary School will receive $7,500 for their Grade 8 Graduation Trip
“Supporting grassroots initiatives is one of the most meaningful ways we can give back, and we’re proud that SNGRDC’s success allows us to continue investing in the people, programs, and organizations that make the Six Nations community stronger,” said Rachel Martin, Chair of SNGRDC’s Board of Directors.
The EDT is funded by the surplus profits of SNGRDC’s business operations, including investments in renewable energy infrastructure. Applicants must demonstrate a financial need and showcase how their project aligns with the Six Nations Community Plan.
