Funding generated by Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation to support five community-based initiatives
Ohsweken, ON, October 20, 2025 – The Six Nations of the Grand River Economic Development Trust (EDT) has approved $47,058.00 in community investment to support the work of five local volunteer organizations and initiatives on Six Nations throughout 2025. The following applicants were approved for funding at a meeting of the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC)’s Economic Development Trust Committee on October 1, 2025.
- Project Skate will receive $3,098 to upgrade the lighting at the Six Nations Skate Park.
- Tewateweyenhstha will receive $5,800 for their ‘Revitalizing Mohawk Language’ program.
- The Haudenosaunee Sports Development Group will receive $10,650 to host their ‘Dedwaye:na – Let’s Work Together, Help Each Other’ gathering for the Six Nations cultural sports community.
- The Six Nations Agricultural Society will receive $12,510 for Kid’s Day at the 2025 Six Nations Fall Fair.
- Kawenní:io/Gawęní:yo School will receive $15,000 to purchase a heat press and embroidery machine to support apparel sales for fundraising.
“We’re proud to support these organizations in their important work to strengthen the Six Nations community,” said Rachel Martin, Chair of the SNGRDC Board of Directors. “Giving back has always been central to SNGRDC’s mission, and it’s rewarding to mark our tenth year in business by bringing our total EDT contributions to more than $25 million.”
The EDT is funded by the surplus profits of SNGRDC’s business operations, including investments in renewable energy infrastructure. Applicants must demonstrate a financial need and showcase how their project aligns with the Six Nations Community Plan.
