The Six Nations of the Grand River Economic Development Trust (EDT) is pleased to announce that $345,801.00 has been allocated to seven recipients for the 2024 second round of funding.
Ten applications received for this round of funding were moved on to the shortlist presentation phase. Following the presentations and individual and group scoring, the EDT Committee approved two general and five grassroots applications for community investment.
The following projects have been approved for community investment:
General Recipients
- Ganohkwasra Family Assault Support Services will receive $273,504 for expansion of their Gayenawahsra Healing Centre
- Six Nations Farmers’ Association will receive $4,999 for their Six Nations Food Sustainability, Food Security Task Force
Grassroots Recipients
- Oliver M. Smith Home & School will receive $13,298 for their ‘Edwadewayesta Ohwejadeh: We Learn from the Earth’ project
- Six Nations Girls Field Lacrosse will receive $15,000 to support the 2024 SNGFL season
- Miles to Go Cancer Support Group will receive $15,000 for equipment upgrades and replacement
- Mohawk Chapel Royal Coat of Arms will receive $14,000 for their Ceremony to Present Royal Coat of Arms to the Royal Chapel of the Mohawks
- Ogwaya’dadogehsdoh – Alignrbody will receive $10,000 for their ‘Indigenous Collective Wellness – resource story activity’ project
Since 2016, the EDT has invested over $18 million back into the Six Nations community. This funding is made possible through annual distributions of surplus profits by Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation.
