The Six Nations of the Grand River Economic Development Trust (EDT) has approved $79,842.38 in community investment to support the work of seven local volunteer organizations and initiatives on Six Nations throughout 2025. The following applicants were approved for funding at a meeting of the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC)’s Economic Development Trust Committee on March 5, 2025:

  • Two Row on the Grand will receive $15,000 for Two Row on the Grand 2025
  • C. Hill Home & School Association will receive $15,000 for their Grade 8 Year-End Trip to Quebec
  • The Miss Indigenous Canada Committee will receive $7,500 for Miss Indigenous Canada 2025
  • Emily C. General Home & School Association will receive $15,000 for their Grade 8 Year-End Trip to Quebec
  • The Indian Defense League of America will receive $4,842.38 for their Fight for the Line initiative
  • The Six Nations Skating Club will receive $15,000 to support their operations
  • Stars of Tomorrow Alumni will receive $7,500 for their 50th Anniversary Celebration

“We are proud to support the dedicated efforts of grassroots organizations and initiatives that enrich our community,” said Rachel Martin, Chair of the SNGRDC Economic Development Trust Committee.

The EDT is funded by the surplus profits of SNGRDC’s business operations, including investments in renewable energy infrastructure. Applicants must demonstrate a financial need and showcase how their project aligns with the Six Nations Community Plan.

The EDT will be issuing additional calls for grassroots applications in April and September 2025 as well as the general call for applications to be released in early April.
