The Six Nations of the Grand River Economic Development Trust (EDT) is pleased to announce that $783,147.07 has been allocated to eleven recipients for the 2024 round of funding.

All twelve applications received for this round of funding were deemed complete and moved on to the shortlist presentation phase. Following the presentations and individual and group scoring, the EDT Committee approved four general and seven grassroots applications for community investment.

The following projects have been approved for community investment in 2024:

General Recipients

  • Six Nations Language Commission will receive $365,000 for their “Living in our Languages” project
  • Six Nations Polytechnic will receive $73,400.38 for food security at SNP Brantford
  • Kayanase will receive $214,845 for the Six Nations Conservancy Project, Moving Forward
  • Six Nations Library will receive $37,000 for 6NPL Collection Development

Grassroots Recipients

  • Two Row on the Grand will receive $15,000 for Two Row on the Grand 2024
  • Seneca Longhouse will receive $13,006.73 for their “Seneca Longhouse 2024 Gaiwiyoh” project
  • Onondaga Language Collective will receive $8,909.96 for “Onondaga Language Resource Development Weekend”
  • The Muskrat Podcast will receive $14,100 for the Muskrat Podcast Series
  • The Golden Spoon will receive $15,000 for capacity upgrades
  • Six Nations Skydome Beaders will receive $15,000 for the 2024 International Haudenosaunee Beadwork Style Conference
  • Six Nations Agricultural Society will receive $11,885 for the Six Nations 155th Fall Fair – Kid’s Day

The EDT has additional funding available as not all funds were invested during this call for applications. As a result, there will be a second call for applications in 2024. This date is yet to be determined.

Since 2016, the EDT has invested over $17.3 million back into the Six Nations community. This funding is made possible through annual distributions of surplus profits by Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation.
